Actor Nirmal Pandey Passes Away

Bollywood actor Nirmal Pandey, best known for his role as Vikram Mallah in Bandit Queen is no more today.The 48-year-old actor on thursday succumbed to massive heart attack. Family sources said the actor was not keeping well for some time. The end came at a private hospital in the afternoon.

A graduate from the National School of Drama, he was part of a London based theatre group, Tara. In addition to acting Nirmal Pandey was also a versatile singer and has released an album called Jazba in 2002 and directed Andha Yug, a Hindi play written by Dharmavir Bharati.

He made his debut in Bollywood in 1996 as a transvestite in Amol Palekar’s Daayraa.

Nirmal Pandey was seen in films like Bandit Queen, Daayraa, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Shikari, Godmother, Daayra and Train to Pakistan to name a few. He later moved on to television in shows like Hatim and Raajkumar Aaryyan many among others. He also ventured in regional films. In fact, he was last seen in Telugu film Kedi.

He worked in various commercial and arts films but his character as a villain was highly acclaimed in Shekhar Kapoor’s Bandit Queen. Apart from the movies, he acted in more than 125 plays, including Heer Ranjha and Anitigone.

Entire Bollywood fraternity has condoled his death and described him as a good person. Bollywood will definitely remember his contributions to the film industry
