Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan whose latest film ‘My Name is Khan’ has been shot in the US, was detained by U.S. authorities on suspicion of terrorism because he has a Muslim name.

Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood”, revealed he was held at Newark Airport, New Jersey for two hours  by security but was let go after the Indian embassy in the United States intervened.

“I was really being hassled, perhaps because of my name being Khan,” actor Shah Rukh Khan charged Saturday, a day after he was detained for two hours. “These guys wouldn’t let me through.” The 43-year-old “King of Bollywood” said he was waiting for his bags Friday when security pulled him aside after his name popped up on a computer screen. “I was really taken aback,” he told an Indian television station. “I did not want to say anything just in case they took everything wrong, because I am a little worried about Americans because they do have this issue when your name is Muslim.”

The immigration officers wanted to know why the actor was visiting the United States after his name popped up on the computer screen at the counter. Khan said he kept telling the authorities that he was an actor and requested them to allow him to speak to his contacts in the US, but was not allowed to make calls initially.

“It is a Muslim name and I think the name is common on their checklist” he said to an Indian television station by telephone from Chicago. He said it was ironic that the incident happened on the evening of Aug 15 — when freedom is celebrated by Indians.

I personally feel sad, when Indians are treated like garbage in foreign Countries If that’s the way American think they can insult any INDIAN , in india we also need to make safe our country.
