SAAD son of OSAMA dead in US attack
A media report said that Saad bin Laden, Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden’s third eldest son is believed to have died, when a US Predator Drone fired missiles on his hideout. US agencies were sure that they had hit Saad and he was dead. Saad bin Laden reportedly spent years under house arrest in Iran before traveling last year to Pakistan, according to former National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell.
U.S. forces have stepped up their drone attacks in Pakistan since last September, targeting Taliban and al Qaeda-linked militants in areas bordering Afghanistan. The US military and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are the only forces that deploy drones to the region.
Intelligence sources said that it was not 100 per cent accurate to predict that Laden’s son had been killed in the attack as there was no DNA test to confirm the incident. But sources said that US agencies were 80-15% sure that they had hit Saad and pretty sure that he was dead.
According to authorities, the son was not considered a significant player in al Qaeda. He was thought to be in his late twenties. A US official commented on his death report, saying that Saad bin Laden was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time”. But It is not clear whether his father was anywhere near the scene at the time of the attack.
