Namitha Kapoor the glamour queen of Tamil filmdom was born in the Punjabi-speaking Kapoor family in Surat, Gujarat, India on May 10, 1981. Her Real name is Namita Vankawala, studied at M.T.B. Arts College, Surat. She has a degree in English Literature. She is 6 feet tall and weighs about 70 kilos. She is the only daughter in this family, which consists of her dad, a businessman while her mom is a housewife. Her favourite color is white and black & Favourite flower is white roses.
She made her acting debut in the telgu film although she became famous after the tamil film ‘engal anna’ (2004) in which she played a lead role. She has acted in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu films. She starred in Tamil Film “Aai” the song “kaitai pota tapa” along with actor Natrajan , which ended up as a big hit.This publicity opened up doors for her and she did a number of TV commercials like Himami cream & hand soap, Amul Ice Cream, Manekchand Gutka and Nile herbal shampoo.
She first came into the limelight after she was crowned Miss Surat during the year 1998. She went on to participate in the 2001 Miss India pageant and ended up as the fourth runner-up, while Celina Jaitley was crowned Miss India during this event.
Namitha was a tough girl even from her school days. She learned karate and is said to be a black belt now, She loves to dance, watch movies, swim and play badminton in her spare time and likes to work out physically. She likes novels, especially by Sidney Sheldon, as well as comic books. She is a promoter of Gadgetguru. Namitha is a great fan of the Pop Singer enrique Iglesias.
She has been shot changing her clothes inside a caravan while shooting for a movie. The dress change video, featuring the actress, is currently doing rounds on the internet. This is the first major controversial video after Trisha’s bathroom clip leaked in February this year.
Namitha spends her leisure time by playing Badminton. She used to coach swimming for kids. Namitha is too beautiful, hardworking and extremely talented and has got a great future in Telugu and Tamil Industry.
