King of pop is no more
The man with the largest fan base, the man who made people believe in one world, the music maniac, has breathed his last in UCLA hospital this afternoon. The popular show-stopper is 50 years old and he has suffered a cardiac arrest this afternoon on 25 June 2009. Fans from all over the world are mourning his death.
Michael Jackson had been planning to start a series of comeback concerts in London and had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months.
The circumstances of Jacksons death were not immediately clear. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jacksons rented home, was roped off with police tape.Speaking on behalf of the Jackson family, Jermaine, said doctors had tried to resuscitate the star for more than an hour without success.
His 1982 album “Thriller” which included the blockbuster hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” – remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.
