Fire in Dal Lake, Kashmir
Finally a much deserved end granted to my wandering thoughts. I often used to ask myself, why is Kashmir (heaven on earth) called as controversial place, and everything related to it is an issue. In search of my answer I went there, last month. Everything was so serene and splendid that words arenΓÇÖt enough to frame it.The shikara ride was more satisfying then any royal wheels. But, when there arenΓÇÖt any man fabricated devices to spoil the place, there the game is played by the almighty. The lake was quiet, ever since a fire broke down after a cylinder burst in a house boat. It was so massive and destructive that nothing could prevent it. Even the aid couldnΓÇÖt reach since, our cars and wheels are good for roads only. Fire brigade was of no help since it was right there at the lake. I wish we could make measures that can reach any place, be it in air, water or land. The valuation of loss was above 20crores. But I could feel the humanity surviving strong there. People were helping each other; every heart went out for the cause. It was a saddening and touching experience. I just pray that every problem related to Kashmir goes on a permanent vacation, as the place deserves to be left only for praise and appreciation.
